Do not promise that every released result has a photograph or remains searchable after discharge. A person who bonded out of UPDC without entering state custody may have no DPS&C image at all.
Union Parish Mugshots Use the App
The Union Parish Sheriff website does not host a public roster page. Its FAQ directs people seeking booking photos to the mobile app. Apple describes the inmate feature as current UPDC inmates and says it can send name or date-of-birth alerts on booking or release. The public listing does not say that photos remain after a person leaves current custody.
Search while the record is lawfully visible. Match more than the name. Use date of birth, booking information, agency, and custody location where shown. Note the access date and exact status. If an alert later reports release, preserve it and obtain the facility entry because a notification may lag and a departure can be a transfer.

Request Union Parish Booking Photos
Choose the custodian before sending a request. UPSO may hold a photograph with an arrest, bond, or Sheriff-app record. The Union Parish Police Jury operates UPDC and is the better route for an image maintained with the jail booking. A narrow request can go to both while clearly naming the different record sets.

UPSO publishes $1 for each printed-photo page and $10 for each CD or digital medium. Those are not special booking-photo prices. Confirm the actual charge before copying. The Sheriff asks requesters to allow five business days after sufficient details arrive. The Police Jury also uses a five-business-day initial response process, excluding weekends and legal holidays, but neither statement guarantees full production by that deadline.

The source supports the Sheriff request route. UPDC-held booking images should still be directed to the Police Jury as the detention-center operator.
Verify Union Parish Mugshot Context
Regional news, official agency posts, and commercial aggregators may repeat a booking image. None substitutes for the custodian’s photo or the court disposition. A repost can carry the wrong date, an old charge, a poor identity match, or no later case outcome. No commercial mugshot publisher is linked or endorsed.
Use a nonofficial image only to locate the official trail. Compare the pictured person with agency identifiers. Find the original arrest or booking record, then search the Union Parish Clerk’s Third Judicial District file for bond, disposition, sentence, dismissal, or expungement entries. A news story can provide context, but it cannot prove the exact moment someone left UPDC.
Registry photographs require special care. The Louisiana sex-offender registry serves a separate legal purpose and a defined population. Its presence or absence does not establish the date, type, or location of a Union Parish jail release.

Union Parish Mugshot Removal Law
Release alone does not erase a booking photograph. Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure Article 234 applies to a qualifying publication that demands payment to remove a booking image. After a proper request with proof of acquittal, non-prosecution, expungement, vacation, or pardon, the covered publisher must remove and destroy the photo within seven calendar days and cannot charge for removal. Mere release is not one of the listed triggers.
Article 234 is not a broad ban on official publication. A person seeking correction at an official source should identify the record, provide the verified disposition or order, and use that agency’s process. A commercial remove-for-pay demand should not be treated as the normal official route. No removal service is endorsed.
Union Parish Mugshots Are App-First
Union Parish has a distinctive publication stance. The Sheriff FAQ answers the local online booking-photo question by pointing to the official app, while the official web inventory contains no released-mugshot archive. A timely app view is therefore useful when the person is still shown as a current UPDC inmate. Once that display ends, the durable route is a records request.
The official FAQ also explains that UPSO does not operate UPDC. This creates a two-custodian photo trail. Sheriff-held arrest, bond, or app material may sit with UPSO, while the jail booking image may be maintained by UPDC under the Police Jury. A precise request should state which version is wanted.
The official source connects the app-photo answer with the local operator split, making a blanket request to one office less reliable.
Expunged Union Parish Booking Photos
Louisiana expungement removes covered arrest and conviction records, including photographs, fingerprints, disposition, and related information, from public access without destroying them. Article 973 makes an expunged record confidential while preserving the limited access allowed by law. Expungement is not the same as release, dismissal, or sentence completion.
The Union Parish Clerk expungement checklist describes the local packet and supporting material. Eligibility depends on the outcome, offense, waiting rules, and statutory exclusions. The Clerk’s file and the facility image answer separate questions. Court minutes show the legal result, while the custodian can identify the source image and booking episode. Ask for a certified court copy when formal proof is needed, but do not describe certification as proof of the physical release time. If the app photo, jail image, and state-corrections photo look different, compare agency numbers and dates before concluding they depict the same event. Photos can be taken years apart, and aliases or similar names can produce a bad match. A same-name image with no second identifier remains inconclusive.
The strongest photo record carries the source, access date, identity controls, arrest date, and verified disposition. If official sources conflict, retain each agency label and ask the custodian to resolve the record rather than smoothing the conflict away.
